10. Dark Crimes (2018)

Starring: Jim Carrey, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Marton Csokas

Directed By: Alexandros Avranas

In this film, you’ll see another side of Jim Carrey, aside from making our tummies hurt from laughing. This movie is about a problematic detective who had suspicions over an author who seemed to give clues about an unsolved case through his writing. This crime-drama, mystery, and thriller film was rated R and has a 1-hour and 32-minute screen time.

Dark Crimes was released on May 11, 2018, and was able to stream a week after. It was written by Jeremy Brock and was produced by a handful of individuals, including John Cheng and Jeffrey Soros. On Rotten Tomatoes, Johnny Oleksinski of New York Post wrote “exercise in vulgarity was made at all is shameful.” Its Tomatometer score is at 0%, while the audience score of this film was 30%. The Numbers also posted the figures of its worldwide gross amounting to $27,672. This number could be a few months of salary for someone with a finance degree, but for Jim Carrey, probably not even close.
