21. Redline (2007)

Starring: Nathan Phillips, Nadia Bjorlin, Angus Macfadyen

Directed By: Andy Cheng

Nadia Bjorlin was given the credit role, and she portrayed the character, Natasha. She dreamt to be a singer but circumstances prohibited her from following her ambition, so she started illegal racing instead. Things got mixed up, Michael, played by Angus Macfadyen, wanted her to race for him, and that’s where this action-packed film revolved. This was released on April 13, 2007, in theaters and was only available for streaming in 2016. The film lasted for 1 hour and 35 minutes, and it’s written by Robert Foreman and produced by Daniel Sadek.

Redline had a Tomatometer percentage of 0%, while its audience score was 47%. If you were to look for the reviews, you would feel bad for laughing after J. R. Jones from Chicago Reader wrote “The whole thing is pretty stupid…”, while another person from Quad-City Times added salt to the wound just by shortly commenting “Well…at least you can look at the cars.”

20. Cabin Fever (2016)

Starring: Nadine Crocker, Matthew Daddario, Samuel Davis

Directed By: Travis Z

With a Tomatometer of 4% and an audience score of 38%, you probably already know that this film is something that you would think twice about if you’re going to watch or not. Not to mention that you could waste your time with its 1 hour and 39 minutes runtime, which would probably be better spent on online classes or watching more entertaining videos on Tiktok.

In case you’re not aware of this movie – you’re forgiven – it revolves around five friends who just got out of college and then faced a horrific event after. According to some top critics on Rotten Tomatoes, Candice Frederick from Reel Talk Online said, “I watched this, so you don’t have to.” If you think that’s mean, wait until you read this one from Guardian’s Peter Bradshaw, where he just stated “One to avoid.” This big-screen offering was written by Randy Pearlstein and Eli Roth and was produced by Christopher Lemole, Evan Astrowsky, and Tim Zajaros.

19. Shadow Conspiracy (1997)

Starring: Charlie Sheen, Donald Sutherland, Linda Hamilton

Directed By: George P. Cosmatos

Another film that got 0% from Tomatometer is the movie Shadow Conspiracy. Even its audience score is somewhat disappointing at 18%. This action, mystery, and thriller movie is about Charlie Sheen’s character, Bobby Bishop, who learned a confidential plot to eradicate the president, portrayed by Sam Waterston. He had to do everything he could to protect the official, even risking his own life.

Three production companies worked for this film, Cinergi Pictures Entertainment, Paramount Pictures, and Hollywood Pictures. Unfortunately, the investment money and budget of $45 million is far from its gross of only $2.15 million. Head-scratching is an understatement for this one. One person from Rotten Tomatoes wrote, “Ridiculous.” as a review. In case you’re a huge fan of Charlie Sheen and still want to give it a go, the mentioned website also suggests that one could watch this movie on Prime Video or Apple TV, either by renting or buying.

18. 3 Strikes (2000)

Starring: Brian Hooks, N’Bushe Wright, Faizon Love

Directed By: D.J. Pooh

Even though it has earned a gross 2.5 times more than its budget, from $4 million to $9.8 million, the most-trusted film review website made us think if this movie is worth our time or not. 3 Strikes was released on March 1, 2000. It was written by D.J. Pooh and produced by Marcus Morton, and the production company who made an investment in this film was Motion Picture Corporation of America.

Its Tomatometer percentage was at 0%, but its audience score was at 66%. However, top critics still have some influence over possible watchers, and one of the comments was by Jonathan Foreman from New York Post, who stated that the film was “Butt-numbingly dull and almost entirely laugh-free.” Insert a viral meme face after reading it. This review is quite difficult to disregard in the perspective of all the persons behind it.

17. Wagons East! (1994)

Starring: John Candy, Richard Lewis, John C. McGinley

Directed By: Peter Markle

This film is about a group who’ve had enough of the Wild West, so they’ve come up with the idea to go back to the east. It may sound interesting but most movie critics from Rotten Tomatoes didn’t just raise one eyebrow, their thumbs were pointing down, too. Jonathan Rosenbaum from Chicago mentioned that this was an “unfunny western comedy…lame in its writing and direction.”

Not that surprising though, as its Tomatometer still got 0% with only 29 reviews, while its audience score was at 38% out of more than 5,000 ratings. Wagons East earned a gross of $3.7 million and had a duration of 1 hour and 46 minutes. However, John Candy and Richard Lewis are a fascinating tandem, so if you want to see it, you can always use your debit or credit card to purchase or rent the movie on Amazon’s Prime Video or Apple TV.

16. Problem Child (1990)

Starring: John Ritter, Michael Oliver, Jack Warden

Directed By: Dennis Dugan

Even after this film got a poor rating from Rotten Tomatoes and head-scratching reviews from film critics, it still got a couple of sequels after this one. Basically, this film is about a couple who haven’t had success in bearing a child, so they decided to adopt one, which is Michael Oliver’s credit role, Junior.

From more than 50,000 ratings, the film got an audience score of 42%, while its Tomatometer was 0%. However, according to The Numbers, movie-goers didn’t seem to be bothered about the review as this film is still considered a hit after accumulating a worldwide gross of $72.2 million, which is equivalent to $116 million if adjusted for inflation. On the other hand, some comments in the movie wrote on Rotten Tomatoes’website stating, “Smart beginning, witless ending.” while a staff member from Variety used the phrase “unbelievable mess” to describe the film.

15. Return To The Blue Lagoon (1991)

Starring: Milla Jovovich, Brian Krause, Lisa Pelikan

Directed By: William A. Graham

Aside from directing this film, William A. Graham also produced this movie alongside Peter Bogart. The film is about a mother who raised her daughter and adoptive son in isolation, specifically, on an island. After the passing of the matriarch, her two children grew up so quickly that they even formed a romantic relationship. However, their lives were in danger after the arrival of the outsiders on the island.

Return to The Blue Lagoon got a disappointing score on Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer, which is 0%, but its audience score garnered an overwhelming 42%. This big-screen project only used $2.3 million, even if it’s Columbia Pictures Corporation release, and film critics were unstoppable to give their two cents. Miranda Sawyer from Empire Magazine took it to a certain degree after she mentioned that the director showed “a picture of love that is tediously sexist.” while giving it two stars out of five.

14. The Nutcracker In 3D (2010)

Starring: Elle Fanning, Nathan Lane, John Turturro

Directed By: Andrei Konchalovsky

This film doesn’t have any registered points on the Tomatometer, which is significantly better than gaining zero. On the other hand, its audience score fairly gained 67%. Andrei Konchalovsky didn’t just direct this movie, but he also wrote it with Paul Lowin and produced it alongside Chris Solimine.

The Nutcracker in 3D debuted in theaters on December 3, 2010, while it was available for streaming only in November of 2016. According to The Numbers, the fantasy and musical movie had a runtime of 1 hour and 48 minutes and received a whopping production budget of $90 million. However, its earnings were just over $20 million worldwide. Imagine putting out so much investment money for a film. This could be worse than a flop because even the charming Elle Fanning couldn’t save the movie from going under. As of 2021, there are still no written reviews from movie critics.

13. London Fields (2018)

Starring: Amber Heard, Billy Bob Thornton, Theo James

Directed By: Matthew Cullen

This is a mystery and thriller film, which revolves around Amber Heard’s character, Nicola Six. Here, she had three love affairs, one of which is set to eradicate her for good. London Fields was produced by Chris Hanley, Jordan Gertner, and Geyer Kosinski, and was written by Roberta Hanley. It was rated R as it contains explicit scenes that are inappropriate for young ones to see.

Out of 35 reviews, the movie has scored 0% on the Tomatometer while its audience score is 41% with more than 250 who rated it. From its synopsis on The Numbers’website, it’ll definitely encourage you to watch the film. However, if you hover over the worldwide gross, you’ll see a very disappointing figure of $433,732, against its $8 million production budget. If you thought, “Are the producers still breathing?”, you’re not the only one. Wrong investment indeed.

12. Stratton (2018)

Starring: Dominic Cooper, Connie Nielsen, Gemma Chan

Directed By: Simon West

An action-packed film that is about a British Special Boat Service personnel who needs to track down a madman before he unleashes a dangerous weapon. This movie was rated R with a runtime of 1 hour and 35 minutes, and it was released in theaters and for streaming on January 5, 2018. Matthew Jenkins and Guy Collins produced it, while Warren Davis II and Duncan Falconer collaborated to write the screenplay.

Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer gave it a 0% with over 30 reviews, while its audience score might floor the filmmakers after garnering 20%. Dennis Harvey from Variety even wrote “Solidly pro in overall packaging yet cliched…” With no available production budget, Stratton only earned a worldwide gross of $95,743. It’s safe to say that this is insufficient just by paying the talent fees of the leading casts. If reviews and critics are something that doesn’t move you, you can rent or buy this on Prime Video and Vudu with your debit or credit card.
