11. The Ridiculous 6 (2015)

Starring: Adam Sandler, Will Forte, Taylor Lautner

Yes, even the popular Adam Sandler has a film that flopped. Before searching this film on Netflix, as it’s available there, hear me out. This film is about Adam Sandler’s character, Tommy, also known as White Knife, who discovers that he has five half brothers, while his father was in grave danger. Basically, this revolved around saving the father and knowing his true identity. Aside from having the lead credit, Adam Sandler also shared the same category with Aimee Keen and Allen Covert as the producers and he co-wrote it with Tim Herlihy.

The movie is Rated TV14, and its Tomatometer score is 0%. With over 2,500 ratings, The Ridiculous 6 attained an audience score of 34%. The production companies Eaves Movie Ranch and Happy Madison Productions helped release it to the big screen, with a whopping runtime of almost two hours. 10. Dark Crimes (2018)

Starring: Jim Carrey, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Marton Csokas

Directed By: Alexandros Avranas

In this film, you’ll see another side of Jim Carrey, aside from making our tummies hurt from laughing. This movie is about a problematic detective who had suspicions over an author who seemed to give clues about an unsolved case through his writing. This crime-drama, mystery, and thriller film was rated R and has a 1-hour and 32-minute screen time.

Dark Crimes was released on May 11, 2018, and was able to stream a week after. It was written by Jeremy Brock and was produced by a handful of individuals, including John Cheng and Jeffrey Soros. On Rotten Tomatoes, Johnny Oleksinski of New York Post wrote “exercise in vulgarity was made at all is shameful.” Its Tomatometer score is at 0%, while the audience score of this film was 30%. The Numbers also posted the figures of its worldwide gross amounting to $27,672. This number could be a few months of salary for someone with a finance degree, but for Jim Carrey, probably not even close.

9. Jaws: The Revenge (1987)

This could possibly be the most disappointing film from the Jaws franchise. Rotten Tomatoes’Tomatometer gave it 0%, with 38 reviews, while with over 50,000 ratings, Jaws: The Revenge only got 15%. If you’ll read some of the reviews, Gene Siskel from Chicago Tribune said that if you heard the nasal voice of Lorraine Gary, “you want the shark to eat her,” you might want to gag.

This Jaws film from 1987 was written by Michael de Guzman and was released on streaming platforms on September 11, 2015. According to Rotten Tomatoes, it grossed over $18.8 million in the US alone. Interested? The time you need is just 1 hour and 29 minutes to finish the movie. The screenplay is given credit to Karl Gajdusek.

Starring Edgar Ramirez, Anna Brewster, and Michael Pitt, the movie is set to pan out well. However, it coincided with the international controversy of George Floyd’s demise, sparking nationwide outrage and rallies. The case has involved police brutality, which was also highlighted heavily in the film. Its violent content may have been one of the reasons why this movie was included in Rotten Tomatoes’worst movie list.

7. National Lampoon’s Gold Diggers (2004)

Starring: Will Friedle, Chris Owen, Louise Lasser

Directed by: Gary Preisler

The 2004 movie National Lampoon’s Gold Diggers aimed to reach a degree of fame and gross sales with its storyline. It starred Will Friedle and Chris Owen, whose roles aimed to marry two women sisters and get a life insurance policy after their demise. The elderly sisters were played by Louise Lasser and Renée Taylor. However, the Gary Preisler-directed film, which was described as dull and toothless, was not able to receive their expected number of gross sales. It only earned $400,000 on its release date.

Despite its comedy, the movie met dismal failure, with critics saying the film has nothing thoughtful or interesting to tell or contribute. On Rotten Tomatoes, the movie has no positive reviews, with overwhelming negative feedback on its story. Due to its lack of favorable reviews, the film earned a spot in the list of Worst Movies of the Decade from 2000-2009.

6. Superbabies: Baby Geniuses 2 (2004)

Starring: Jon Voight Scott Baio, Skyler Shaye, Vanessa Angel

Directed by: Bob Clark

Although the 2004 Superbabies: Baby Geniuses 2 featured babies in the film, it was not something many audiences found cute. Rather, it was described to have reached the degree of an irritating movie by many critics. Circling the story of toddlers who wanted to stop media mogul Jon Voight from changing the minds of children, the Bob Clark-directed movie became a flop in the box office. It barely reached sales half from the movie’s expenses.

Even when it aimed at putting comedy in the mouth of babies, it still did not pan well with critics. The consensus of Rotten Tomatoes critics agreed how bad jokes do not sit well when it came from babies’mouths. The jokes did not relay the comedy it intended when it used babies to deliver them. The movie also earned the Worst Picture award in the 25th Golden Raspberry Awards for Worst Picture.

5. Pinocchio (2002)

Starring: Roberto Benigni and Nicoletta Braschi

Directed by: Roberto Benigni

Many kids will be familiar with the story of Pinocchio in the hit 1883 children’s book The Adventures of Pinocchio. However, when it was released on the big screen in 2002, the story was included in the worst movies of all time. Pinocchio’s story was reflected in the show, starting with him as a puppet who became a real boy with the help of the Blue Fairy. Directed and starred by Academy Award winner Roberto Benigni, the movie was called by Rotten Tomatoes as a flop and “creepy vanity project.”

The fantasy comedy-drama film was also described as unfunny and poorly made. It was even pitted against Walt Disney’s adaptation of its animated Pinocchio which was more imaginative and fun. Despite the negative reviews, the movie earned $40 million in the box office, leaving producers with ample amount to get their investment money. It has also received several recognitions such as David di Donatello for Best Production Design and David Di Donatello for Best Costume Design.

3. A Thousand Words (2012)

Starring: Eddie Murphy, Kerry Washington, Cliff Curtis, Clark Duke

Directed by: Brian Robbins

Eddie Murphy has a whole lot of successful comedy movies to boot. As one of the best and highest-paid comedians of his time, it is usually a common notion that all of his movies will be a great investment for producers.

However, it was not the same case as with A Thousand Words, a 2012 movie directed by Brian Robbins. The movie follows the story of a dishonest agent who got the curse of being killed if he utters over 1,000 words. As he goes on with his life and misadventures, he tries to break from the curse. Cutting back Eddie Murphy’s words was probably one of the biggest factors why the movie gained unfavorable reviews, as his voice was one of his greatest assets as a comical man. From the budget of $40 million, the movie only received $22 million in box-office sales, which makes it a flop.

2. One Missed Call (2008)

Starring: Shannyn Sossamon, Beth Raymond, Edward Burns, Azura Skye, Ray Wise

Directed by: Éric Valette

One Missed Call, released in 2008, is a supernatural horror film that sought to frighten and send chills to its audience. Directed by Eric Valette, the movie follows the story of Beth, a college student who witnessed the demise of her friends after they received mysterious voice calls and emails. Beth tried to uncover her friend’s mysterious passing along with an agent while trying to save her own life at the same time.

However, instead of sending fright, One Missed Call received a negative response from the audience. Critics revealed that its plot and characters are predictable and the scenes have already been seen in various Japanese horror movies such as The Grudge, and The Ring – and these were given credit for their astounding horror storylines. It also did not help that actors had bad acting, making the whole movie dry, bland, and uninteresting. It has earned its title as the Worst Reviews Movie of 2008 and received the Mouldy Tomato Award.

1. Ballistic: Ecks Vs. Sever (2002)

Starring: Lucy Liu, Antonio Banderas, Talisa Soto, Gregg Henry

Directed by: Wych Kaosayananda

Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever is released in 2002 and is directed by Wych Kaosayananda. It starred big celebrities like Antonio Banderas and Lucy Liu. Despite having big names, it did not pan well with the general audience. The movie follows the story of an FBI agent and a DIA agent who, despite being sworn enemies, ended up being partners to resolve a case. The two teamed up to end an evil mastermind who aimed to end the human race.

However, despite its aim to be an action-thriller movie, the film ended up being dubbed as boring, with endless shooting and a pointless plot that left the audience thinking about where did their money and time go. According to critics’consensus of Rotten Tomatoes, the movie lacks originality, style, and coherence. Its unfavorable reviews explain why the movie did not perform well at the box office. From its budget of $70 million, it only took home $20 million, making it a huge box-office flop. Producers of the movie probably were wiser with their investments after this movie.
